Forget About Freedom Act
As I wrote a few weeks ago in Oh Tyranny, Thy Name is US, the Military Commissions Act, which was passed post haste on September 28th by Congress, eliminates habeas corpus rights for "enemy combatants" (as defined by GWB).
Crooks & Liars has a video (and transcript) of Keith Olbermann, with his Countdown story, “Why does habeas corpus hate America”, in which he describes the meaning of this action as it applies to our constitution and our country. Unfortunately, this assault on our rights and liberties has been mostly overlooked by the media in the wake of the Foley brouhaha.
