It Lives Only by Their Will

Last night, I went to an event at the National Constitution Center. It was the first time I've been there since it opened in July of 2003. The museum is not far from Independence Hall, the site where the Constitution was first adopted on September 17, 1787.

What a place for a party! Drink in hand, you can look out the huge glass windows with a stunning view of Independence Mall and Independence Hall, three blocks to the south.

Wandering around this building, which is intended to be a testament to our Constitution, I could not help but reflect upon the irony of the recent assaults upon that document by our government in power, on what seems to be a daily basis.

In "Signers Hall," as I walked amid life-size bronze statues of the 42 delegates to the Constitutional Convention, I whispered to them that things weren't looking too good these days for the Constitutional protections that they tried to create for our country and system of government.

I could almost hear them reply -- are you telling us something we don't know? This isn't the first time & probably won't be the last. If things don't work out, maybe it's time for a revolution.
